Reliance Communications' Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) has teamed up with Vietnam's CMC Telecom to enhance connectivity across Southeast Asia.
The companies have entered an agreement whereby GCX will offer IP transit solutions to CMC Telecom in both Hong Kong and Singapore. In exchange, CMC Telecom will deploy a virtual PoP for GCX in Hanoi.
GCX president of Asia-Pacific Fabrizio Civitarese said the agreement will enable the company to extend its reach in Indochina and extend coverage and diversity options for customers in the region.
“Southeast Asia is a key growth market for GCX, and building our presence in Vietnam fills an important gap in that strategy. We are very pleased to have CMC Telecom as our partner, with its nimbleness and customer-focused attitude,” he said.
CMC Telecom deputy CEO Dang Tung Son added that the company expects that “GCX will be an important partner to support CMC Telecom’s goal to become a key regional provider.”
GCX's extensive subsea cable system spans more than 68,000 route km, connects to 40 key business markets worldwide and integrates with Reliance Communications' own 200,000 route km of domestic fiber backbone in India. The company uses its network to deliver managed services to more than 160 countries.
