Rohde & Schwarz has developed a multimedia broadcast muticast service (MBMS) test scenario for its CRTU-W protocol tester, allowing manufacturers of mobile radio user equipment and chipsets to check the functioning of their products.

According to the company, it is among the first to provide such a solution for the development of MBMS-capable user equipment.

With an expansion of the R&S CRTU-WT02 option, the MBMS test scenario can be implemented with up to four transmission channels. In addition to the R&S CRTU-W, only an internal data generator or external media server is necessary to do this.

The transmission channels support data rates of up to 128kbps or 256kbps, and the data rate can be defined as desired for each channel. Since the solution includes extensive logging capabilities, functional errors of user equipment can be easily analyzed.
