ZTE, SingTel run LTE trials
ZTE and SingTel will carry out LTE trials in the Philippines, covering long-term planning for LTE network infrastructure as well as strategic management of the network. The trial is scheduled to run for up to nine months starting early this year.
Wimax demand drives doubling of Wateen's client base
Motorola’s Home & Networks Mobility business said Wateen Telecom has revved up its rollout of Wimax services and is on its way to doubling its existing customer premises equipment (CPE) volume to 200,000 by year end. Motorola is Wateen’s exclusive Wimax CPE and infrastructure supplier.
Greenpacket bags supply deals in Asia Pacific
Green Packet has secured orders for the supply of Wimax modems from Vividwireless (Australia), Vee Telecom (Taiwan) and Globe Telecom (Philippines). Senior GM Kelvin Lee said the company is seeing the returns of its strong R&D focus in Wimax.
Ericsson drops VoLGA support
Ericsson has dropped its support for the VoLGA Forum as an interim solution to providing voice and SMS services for LTE networks, saying there are no signs of strong support from mobile operators. VoLGA promotes voice over LTE via generic access.
Wimax Forum launches Indonesia chapter
The Wimax Forum has set up a regional chapter in Indonesia to promote the global Wimax ecosystem to government officials, regulators, operators and customers. Mohammad Shakouri, Wimax Forum VP, said the move is meant to hasten deployment of Wimax networks around the globe.
