ZTE signs a new supply contract with China Unicom to provide the carrier with wireless application protocol gateway solutions. Under the deal, ZTE will construct a multi-media messaging center, and a WAP network platform which will cover 19 provinces in China.

Ericsson secures a deal with Vietnamese operator Saigon Postel Telecommunication to build a nationwide IMS-based multimedia network in Vietnam. Ericsson will be the sole supplier of the IMS system for SPT's nationwide network expansion and upgrade, the company said.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group reports that there are currently 1 billion consumers using Bluetooth-enabled devices. Citing shipment information, the group said the installed base of Bluetooth devices reached the 1 billion mark in early November.
