Smart Communicationshas increased its 2010 capex 9.3% to PHP16.4b ($364m) amid a strong increase in bucket promotions, reports the Manila Times.

Jay Axelrod, CEO of user-created news site Digg, will step down under pressure from investors because of the company’s inability to develop a viable business model, New York Times reported, Co-founder Kevin Rose will take over as acting CEO.

NTT DoCoMo president Ryuji Yamada said the Japanese giant had taken some 50,000 pre-orders for its first Android device, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia smartphone, released on Thursday, reports China Post.

The board of Thai regulator, the NTC, has agreed to auction 3G spectrum in September or November, said the Nation.
