Four Japanese handset-makers – Sharp, Panasonic, Fujitsu and NEC – will standardize on a single software platform for next-generation cellphones for NTT DoCoMo, Nikkeireported Sunday.

STMicroelectronics, Europe’s largest chipmaker, sharply after its ST-Ericsson JV said its first-quarter loss had widened from $125m to $154m, Bloomberg reported.
