Shanghai Mobile plans to significantly slash its roaming rates in Hong Kong due to the burgeoning traffic between the two cities. The carrier said it will cut as much as 70% off the current roaming rates between Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Sony Pictures signs an agreement with CNN to sponsor CNN video podcasts, making it the first major studio to do so. Sony will support its message on the CNN Entertainment site with banner ads featuring the film.

IP solutions provider UTStarcom launches the F3000, a portable Wi-Fi handset for VoIP calls. The handset also features an auto-search capability, which helps users locate WiFi networks within range and store these profiles for later use.

Vodafone Fiji bares plan to launch 3G services on the island nation next year. The company also recently announced that more than 7000 people will benefit from Vodafone Fiji's commissioning of a new base station, its 107th, at Nasau, Nadi.
