Palm plans to increase its commitment to China with a three-tiered advance into the rapidly growing market. The company also announced that it signed an agreement with China Mobile for the establishment of Palm's first R&D center in Asia.

Beijing Unicom, a unit of China Unicom, starts to roll out its GPRS added-value service in some select areas. The move marks that the firm's GPRS added-value service has started preliminary commercialization, after months of testing.

Japanese WiMAX operator Yozan joins the WiMAX Spectrum Owners Alliance (WiSOA). Yozan is expected to contribute in some key initiatives including the development of a USB device that will enable users to access WiMAX networks virtually anywhere in the world.
