NTT Communications has launched a WLAN international roaming service in China with over 800 access points operated by China Mobile in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao, and Qinhuangdao. The service will be available from January 1 and costs 25 yen per minute.

Hong Kong regulator OFTA has extended the consultation period on fixed-to-mobile number portability to January 19 from the original deadline of December 30, in response to requests from the industry.

Huawei Technologies and Telecom Italia will open a network innovation center to accelerate development of advanced technologies. The new center will focus on green ultra-broadband network, quality of service, and fixed mobile convergence.

Tata Communications said Tata Sons, one of its promoter group firms, has bought an additional 2.37% stake to take its total holding in the company to 10.8 8%.

Brocade has completed its acquisition of network switching and routing firm Foundry Networks for $16.50 per share in cash.
