Nortel opens a new facility in Beijing to strengthen its R&D capabilities in China and support the development of products for customers in Asia and global markets. The facility will develop next-generation communications technology, the firm also said.

Google releases a new mobile client for mobile devices. Gmail for mobile is a free downloadable Java application that delivers Gmail through an interface optimized for handheld devices, the firm said.

Teletrax, a global broadcast intelligence company, signs an agreement with Reuters Television to expand its monitoring footprint in key strategic worldwide regions. Under the deal, the firm will provide digital video monitoring and content tracking services.

Video-on-demand company ANYTIME secures a five-year distribution agreement with India's largest broadband provider, India On Line Broadband Limited. Four million homes in Mumbai and Delhi will have access to ANYTIME VoD movie channel and interactive games channels by March 2007.
