Nippon Airways issues a statement saying it regrets the decision of US airline giant Boeing to pull the plug on its in-flight Internet service. Nippon Airways also said the in-flight Internet "had been a hit mostly with Asian carriers."

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority launches a campaign to curb mobile phone in the county. The agency said it will work with Pakistan's mobile carriers and the national police to stop mobile phone theft which has been on the rise in the country.

Huawei wins a contract from Nigerian CDMA operator Multi-Links to deploy its BTS and core network softswitch and install a cdma2000 network in Lagos, Abuja, PHC, Kano, Ibadan, and Kaduna.

SanDisk unveils a new digital music player that stores twice as many songs as the popular iPod Nano for nearly the same price. SanDisk, a distant second to Apple in the digital music player market, said it would sell a model of its Sansa player with 8Gb of storage capacity enabling it to save up to 2,000 songs.
