NEC Australia expands its European footprint by securing a DSLAM supply contract from Hungarian telecom operator GTS-Datanet. The contract involves the supply of nine NEC AM Series DSLAMs followed by an additional 12 nodes.

Linktone enters into an exclusive partnership with MTV China, a subsidiary of Viacom, to operate WAP services for MTV China on China Unicom's platform.

China Mobile prepares to launch an IM (instant messaging) software called Fetion. The software is now under beta test and will be released commercially by the end of the year.
