Motorola, Verizon bring LTE to US public safety
Motorola Solutions and Verizon Wireless have partnered to offer a wireless communication solution that combines a private public safety-controlled broadband network tailored for mission-critical operations. Public safety agencies may benefit from economies of scale and optimized network design that can be customized for their requirements.
SK Telecom sets LTE launch in July
SK Telecom said it will triple its broadband capacity and provide five times faster data download and seven times faster upload speeds from July 2011. The operator has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to provide Long Term Evolution infrastructure.
ZTE, KPN Mobile team up for LTE trials
ZTE and KPN Mobile International have teamed up for a joint development program focused on the application of LTE technology in Germany and Belgium. The cooperation, which includes a field trial in 2011, gives KPN the flexibility to speedily upgrade its network equipment to LTE in the future, if demand is there.
Alcatel-Lucent, Altair test TD-LTE for India, China
Altair Semiconductor said its TD-LTE solution, combining Altair's 4G LTE chipsets and Alcatel-Lucent's LTE infrastructure, has completed interoperability testing. Altair will take part in several TD-LTE field trials this year in India and China.

AirWalk, partners unveil LTE small cell product
AirWalk Communications, Mindspeed Technologies, and Lime Microsystems have together developed an LTE small cell product. The introductory product supports the 700MHz band, uses 500mW power output, accommodates up to 200 simultaneous users, and supports S1 packet core network interface.
