Motorola buys privately-held video technology developer Vertasent to expand its product and customer base in the cable television provider market. Motorola, the world's No. 2 mobile phone maker, did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, its third acquisition of a video technology company this year.

Regulators approve Nokia's acquisition of US-based digital music distributor Loudeye for $60 million. The companies said they have received early termination of the waiting period from the US Federal Trade Commission and the antitrust division of the US Department of Justice.

Bangladesh's TMIB selects Ericsson to expand the carrier's GSM/GPRS network. Ericsson will expand network coverage and capacity in the Dhaka and Chittagong areas, which are home to more than half the population of Bangladesh.

UK firm Aepona, a supplier of service network products and solutions to telecoms operators, expands its sales and marketing organization into the rapidly-growing Indian market. Aepona currently has presence in Europe, North America and South East Asia.
