Motorola predicts that 2007 will be the year of WiMAX, forecasting that next year will be the year WiMAX will begin entering the mainstream with growing consumer awareness and anticipation. The company also predicted an increasing number of commercial launches of mobile WiMAX networks.

Research firm Informa Telecoms & Media reports that the global mobile entertainment market will more than double over the next five years reaching $38.1 billion in 2011. The market is was responsible for $18.8 billion in revenues worldwide in 2006, the research company said.

Philippine carrier Smart Communications unveils a mobile-based job placement system exclusive to its subscribers. One-time registration in the mobile service assures the subscriber of receiving free SMS up to three times a week alerting him of available jobs in the industry of his choice, the firm said.
