Microsoft agrees to use video search firm Blinkx to power the video search on some parts of its MSN Internet sites and Live.com. Blinkx already powers video search on sites ranging from AOL to ITN, Lycos and Times Online.

Research firm visiongain says music videos, TV and movie clips will drive the global video ringtones market. However, visiongain warns that a concerted effort is required on the part of mobile operators and handset vendors to take the next step, or they risk losing revenues to third-party providers.

Salesforce.com unveils new tools to help developers write more powerful Web-based business applications. The firm said it also plans to give developers access to the company's software code and host the resulting business applications programmers create on its computers.
