Electronics and mobile phone firm Konka reports a rapid growth in its overseas businesses in 2006, with verseas sales revenues surging more than over 30%, mainly due to significant increases in sales volumes of flat-panel and large-screen TVs as well as mobile phones.

IDC releases a report saying that r\the worldwide market for converged mobile devices pushed past the 20 million unit mark during the fourth quarter of 2006, and past the 80 million unit mark for the year. According to IDC, vendors shipped a total of 23.5 million devices during the fourth quarter of 2006, 33.5% more than the same quarter a year ago.

Ericsson signs a deal with Indian carrier Idea Cellular to proivde solutions for the mobile carrier's GSM expansion in the Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh telecom circles. Under the 3-year contract, Ericsson said it will provide radio access, microwave transmission and next-generation, mobile softswitch network architecture.
