KDDI announces plans to roll out its expanded and updated cdma2000 1x EV-DO system in December. The carrier said the new system promises faster data speeds and compatibility with IP communications standards.

Nokia secures a network and managed services deals with Indonesian carrier Telkomsel. Under the 3-year deal, Nokia provide network equipment and will operate Telkomsel's 3G network.

Unwired Australia expands its wireless broadband service in Melbourne. The service provider said its wireless broadband service can now be accessed by residents in Balwyn, Brunswick, Hawthorn, Kew and parts of North East and North Melbourne, including Caulfield, Canterbury, Essendon and Ivanhoe.

New Zealand's TelstraClear selects business solutions firm Ascade to provide the carrier with test calling solutions. Through the test calling solution, TelstraClear hopes to perform interactive and scheduled testing of voice, modem, fax and ISDN call quality.
