Hutchison Telecommunications reports that it added 3 million new customers in the quarter, representing a 12.8% quarterly increase. With the new addition, the group's total customer base has reached approximately 26.5 million.

Nokia signs a GPRS packet core network expansion contract with Guangdong Mobile Communications. Nokia will provide its intelligent GPRS packet core solution Guangdong Mobile and will thus become the leading GPRS network provider in the province.

Excite Japan, one of Japan's largest portals with over 17 million subscribers in Japan alone, signs an agreement to distribute content with Media Lead, a mobile content publisher. The deal is the result of over two years of information exchanges and sharing between the companies.
