Huawei secures a deal to build a fiber optic network for German operator Versatel Holding Deutschland GmbH. Under the agreement, Huawei will also be responsible for building a communication network based on Internet protocol IP for Germany's third largest fixed-line operator.

The Guangdong branch of China Mobile announces plans to seek partnerships with audio portals and multimedia messaging service suppliers. The carrier said it will seek content providers engaged in supplying information about the auto, transportation, food and entertainment industries.

Bahrain's Batelco and Etisalat sign to provide a range of data communication services and enhance the geographical reach of their operations. The deal also covers a range of data services targeted at multi national companies, which will enable both companies to use IP-VPN technology to transfer voice, video and data between geographically remote locations.
