Google reports that its German Web site was waylaid for two hours because its address was mistakenly reassigned. The temporary takeover of the site just after midnight was not the result of a hacker attack, Google also said.

Dell plans to hire 1,000 Malaysians to operate its first global IT support center outside of the US. The computer maker said the center at Malaysia's high-tech hub of Cyberjaya south of Kuala Lumpur would be operational by the end of the year with an initial 600 staff handling 24-hour IT support and maintenance.
