Ericsson wins a contract from 3G and multimedia firm MiTV to build, manage and maintain its W-CDMA network across Malaysia. Under the deal, Ericsson will provide MiTV with a complete W-CDMA core and radio network, including microwave transmission, multimedia solutions and related services.

LG Electronics selects Texas Instruments to provide solutions for LG's EDGE handsets. The first LG handsets to leverage TI's OMAP-Vox platform will be the LG240 which will be available this month, the firm said.

ZTE secures a deal to provide 3G terminals to Canadian telecommunications carrier Telus. ZTE said it will start shipping the terminals and CDMA data cards this month.

YouTube announces a new service for advertisers to tap into the Web site's popularity while preserving its decidedly noncommercial attitude. YouTube said it will roll out its first Brand Channel which was created to sell a product rather than to simply promote users' ability to attract an audience for their work.
