DoCoMo plans to start marketing the BlackBerry handheld device and BlackBerry-enabled service to corporate customers on September 26. The BlackBerry 8707h operates on both W-CDMA and GSM/GPRS networks and can be used overseas for voice and packet data communications.

Cable & Wireless selects Sonus to provide IMS-ready solution to the carrier's PSTN network. The project is part of the carrier's plans to deploy one of the world's largest IP-voice networks delivering primary line local, long-distance and international telephony service.

Sony and digital music database provider Gracenote urge customers to update software to prevent hackers from breaking into their PCs. Sony and Gracenote made the comment in response to a software flaw which affects a Microsoft technology called ActiveX, a technology which allows programs from other software vendors and multimedia files to be delivered over Web pages.

Optus launches Friend FindA, the latest in its line of location-based services. Optus said privacy is ensured through the requirement for mutual consent and the ability of users to make them 'invisible' at any time.
