Hong Kong carrier CSL unveils the Dopod 838Pro, its first HSDPA handset in the country.

According to CSL, the handset offers higher data transmission rates of up to 1.8Mbps, resulting in improved productivity, faster downloads and increased convenience for the user.

US firm Sirius Satellite introduces its first pocket-sized portable radio that allows subscribers to listen to live broadcasts and to digital music from their personal collections.

Sirius' Stiletto 100, which will compete with a similar portable line from rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings, will sell for about $350, Sirius said.

The Complutense University of Madrid becomes the first library in a non-English-speaking country to join Google's bid to scan every book in print. The university's library houses 3 million works, including thousands of Spanish-language public domain books, including those of Cervantes and Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz.
