The Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) said India's GSM operators set a new record in October by adding 4.7 million subscribers, breaking record additions of 4.4 million reported for September. The October additions took the nationwide GSM subscriber base to 96 million.

Asia Netcom signs an agreement with VADS Berhad, a KLSE mainboard-listed managed local services provider, to extend its domestic connectivity options into Malaysia.

The company said the deal is significant in enhancing Asia Netcom's local loop access capability in Malaysia.

Optus selects Nokia to provide solutions for the carrier's eventual roll out of HSDPA services Nokia has been the major GSM and W-CDMA 3G network infrastructure supplier to Optus since 2001.
