The Ethernet switch market grew almost 20% sequentially in Q4 2009, but Cisco’s market share over declined further in 2009, according to UBS figures.

The MIIT has lifted the ban on website registration for individuals, but applicants must attend a face to face meeting and hand in a full-color photo, AP reports.

Thaicom said it would spend $100 million to buy Thaicom-6, rather than renting a new satellite, said the Bangkok Post.

Tandberg boosted its Q4 operating profit 14% to $60m, with sales up 20%. Asia-Pacific revenue was $30.1m, up 18%. The company expects its acquisition by Cisco to be completed in the first half of 2010.

Revenue from mobile location-based services will reach $12.7 billion by 2014, predicts Juniper Research.

The Republic of Korea and Japan have ranked third and eighth respectively in the ITU’s latest ICT rankings.
