Taiwan incumbent Chunghwa Telecom\'s net profit fell 6.7% in 2008 to around $1.3 billion, as a result of soaring capex from a network upgrade and IMS deployment. Revenue rose 2.2% to $5.98 billion.

Philippines operator Globe Telecom has appointed a new CEO, Ernest L Cu, most recently served as CEO of IT outsourcing firm SPi Technologies. He will take the reins on Thursday, succeeding Gerardo Ablaza.

KT will host two new GXS network broadband hubs for Intelsat\'s Asia-Pacific operations. KT has also become a distributor for Intelsat\'s global maritime services.

VoIP startup Truphone has launched two unlimited plans - one for fixed lines at $14.40 per month and one for mobiles at $35 per month. The services allow users to call any phone in 38 countries for a flat monthly rate.

NSN has inaugurated its new Global Network Solutions Center in Delhi, India. The center will focus on the development of network management outsourcing services.
