BenQ plans to construct an LCD screen and monitor factory in the Czech Republic's second city, Brno. The firm said the site should be ready by the middle of the year, and will be capable of producing around 500,000 LCD screens and 500,000 monitors a year.

In-Stat reports that the conversion from analog radio to digital radio is well under way around the world and gaining momentum rapidly. The market for digital radio receivers will grow from 5 million units in 2005, to almost 25 million unit shipments in 2010, the market research firm said.

Motorola taps popular soccer player David Beckham in the launching of the handset maker's new MotoRazr model in Japan. Beckham has formally kicked off sales of Motorola's new handset with DoCoMo in Japan.
