ABI Research predicts that mainland China will have more than 32 million mobile video users in 2008. The mobile video market in China will take off in 2008, driven by interest in the Beijing Olympics, the research firm said.

KDDI develops a combined "breathalyzer" and telephone that will let bus and taxi companies know if their drivers can take the wheel. KDDI said the phone, called the Alc-Mobile, transmits snapshots of drivers' faces and details on their location using GPS.

A total of 88 million picture messages were sent throughout the UK during the third quarter o 2006, a report from the UK's Mobile Data Association (MDA) says. On average, almost 1 million per day throughout July, August and September, while October's total was the highest, the MDA further said.
