Korea Investment and Securities says it expects Samsung's and LG's respective handset shipment volumes to fall 3.2% and 2.5% in July. The marketing firm however said Samsung and LG should experience a full-blown recovery starting this month.

Lyra Research releases a report predicting that the worldwide camera phone installed base will exceed 1.5 billion in 2010. The report also said camera phones, which have now become the most prevalent image-capture devices in the world, will reach 850 million units by the end of this year.

Nokia starts shipping the Nokia N71 to Vodafone K.K. in Japan. The Nokia N71 will be "customized" for Vodafone subscribers and will be commercially available in Japan from August 12, Nokia said.

YouTube reports that a septuagenarian British widower with "a soft-spoken, humble manner," has registered substantial hits from users of the youth-dominated Web site. The septuagenarian posted his first video on YouTube about a week ago, under the user name "geriatric1927" which refers to the year of his birth, YouTube said.
