(Associated Press via NewsEdge) Spain's Telefonica, Telekom Austria, and a consortium led by Czech telecom company Ceske Radiokomunikace are the final three bidders for the third mobile operators' license in Slovakia, an official said.
Telecommunications Office spokesman Roman Vavro said the government would name the winning bidder in "about two weeks."
Vavro said the successful bidder would have to pay at least 100 million koruna ($3.3 million) for the license.
Currently, the local unit of Germany's T-Mobile International and a subsidiary of France Telecom, Orange Slovensko, are the country's mobile operators.
The Slovak government opened the tender on May 31 and July 14 was the deadline for bid submissions.
