In separate announcements, Ericsson has beefed up its US-based consultancy capability and struck an LTE agreement with Motorola.

Ericsson says it will acquire inCode’s strategy group for an undisclosed sum, bringing on board 45 North American business and technology consultants.

“inCode adds unique expertise in complex, strategic and technical consulting engagements that will enable us to immediately enhance the value that we bring to our customers,” said Magnus Mandersson, head of Ericsson’s global business unit.

Separately, Ericsson will combine its LTE equipment with Motorola solutionsto provide LTE-based gear for public safety communications.

LTE would allow “real-time information sharing between an integrated multimedia command center and field forces, through a collaborative portfolio of rugged radios, in-vehicle terminals and handheld LTE data devices,” Ericsson said.

The new solutions would also enable video communication from accident sites to disaster control centers. “Situation awareness empowers efficient decisions, secure assets and property and may in the end, save lives.”
