Equinix has partnered with PT DCI to jointly provide data center infrastructure and colocation services in Indonesia.
According to Frost and Sullivan, Indonesia has the highest number of internet users in Southeast Asia, with a growth rate of 400% over the last five years.
Under the partnership, PT DCI, a company founded by a group of Indonesian data center industry players, will build a 65,000 square feet data center in Jakarta, where it provides a full range of colocation, interconnection, support and monitoring services to customers of both companies.
The new data center will be built in multiple phases. The first stage, which Equinix expects to be completed in Q1 2013, will provide space and support infrastructure for about 1,250 IT cabinets.
Equinix said it selected PT DCI as a partner because it is well connected with the local and international financial markets, especially direct access to the Indonesia Internet Exchange.
The deal will give PT DCI customers access to Equinix’s interconnected data centers in 38 strategic global, which allows companies to expand their data center footprint in Asia Pacific and across the globe.
It also allows Indonesian customers to connect more than 4,000 enterprises, cloud, digital content and financial companies, including over 900 network service providers worldwide, Equinix added.
