Macau Cable Television (MCTV) said the broadcasting rights of the English Premier League (EPL) 2015/2016 football season, which began earlier this month, were still under negotiation, the Macau Post Daily reported.
MCTV CEO Angela Lam In Nie was also quoted as saying that the fee for the broadcasting rights was the main issue in the negotiations, adding that it did not broadcast last season’s EPL matches because the fee had been doubled at that time.
Government broadcaster TDM’s CEO Manuel Pires Junior earlier said that the station had decided that it will not be broadcasting any EPL football matches this season, as the fee for the broadcasting rights was “too high”.
