Press Release
Hanover, 17 June 2013 – To modernise transformer stations, energy utilities in Hong Kong and China have chosen more of KEYMILE’s multi-service access and transmission sys-tems. Their decision was based on good, longstanding experience with the company. Key criteria included the track record of reliability and safety worldwide and long product lifecy-cles.
KEYMILE is a leading technology supplier of communications solutions in access and transmission systems. It’s continuing to build on its successful customer relations with energy utilities in Hong Kong and China. At the beginning of June 2013, KEYMILE won the tender to modernise 152 trans-former stations in Hong Kong. The multi-service access and transmission system UMUX will be used. It stands apart for its robust design and high temperature range. As a result, it is ideal in the harsh ambient conditions that typically prevail in the energy utilities’ dedicated networks. The pro-ject will run for four years and KEYMILE has already delivered the first 38 systems. Shun Hing Systems Integration is one of KEYMILE's local integration partners and was pivotal in the order being placed and implemented.
Back in 2010, KEYMILE and Shun Hing Systems Integration had already secured their first tender with the utilities. At the time, another manufacturer’s unreliable devices needed exchanging ur-gently after widespread power cuts had occurred. By early 2013, in this project 95 transformer sta-tions had been fitted with KEYMILE’s UMUX access system. Because the systems were very reli-able and well integrated, the energy utilities opted to convert a further 86 transformer stations in a second project in 2011.
At the same time, KEYMILE and the local partner also won another tender in 2011 with a second local power utility in Hong Kong. Some 44 stations have been fitted and are up and running. The conversion of further stations is expected.
In the last years a total of more than 2,500 transformer stations in Hong Kong and China have been fitted with KEYMILE equipment.
A key role in successful projects is played by the centres of competence that KEYMILE operates in some countries. In addition to Dubai, the company provides these facilities in Turkey and has also had one in Shenzhen, China, since 1 June 2013. The centres of competence support local part-ners, for example by providing extensive training programmes, fast response times to pre-sales and post-sales enquiries, and short delivery times. Customers benefit from first-level, local support and direct access to the product development department. The new facility in Shenzhen looks after and advises KEYMILE's customers in Hong Kong and China and further Chinese energy utilities on all technical issues.
“We’re delighted to fulfil our customers’ demands, to boost our technical expertise in the regions, to increase local customer contact and to maintain the first-class quality of projects”, comments Frank Krause, Chief Sales Officer at KEYMILE. “The centres of competence propagate KEYMILE´s strat-egy to enhance partner and customer relations and increase customer satisfaction”.
