ECtel registered an 83% increase in revenues to $6.5 million in the first quarter from $3.6 million in the same period a year ago.
This figure, however, was lower than fourth-quarter revenues of $6.6 million as the first quarter is seasonally slow. The weaker dollar and the completion of two low-margin projects shrank the company's gross margin to 44.2% from the fourth quarter's 55.6%.
The company expects a strong performance for the rest of the year, particularly with the acquisition of substantially all assets of Compwise, a provider of business analytic solutions for telcos.
The acquisition is expected to further expand and strengthen ECtel's Integrated Revenue Management product suite, and boost its customer numbers.
