Japan's NTT Docomo has formally selected a 5G new radio radiofrequency test system from Anritsu Corporation to support a stable 5G rollout.
Docomo's new test platform is targeted at 5G devices now in development, and is registered with the Global Certification Forum and fellow certification forum PTCRB to conduct 3GPP-specified mobile terminal certification 5G tests.
The operator plans to incorporate the test system with the existing 5G new radio mobile device test platform also being provided by Anritsu, to allow its device acceptance tests to support both radiofrequency and protocol tests.
The combined system will cover the 3GPP-specified 5G frequency bands including sub 6-GHz and millimeter wave spectrum.
Anritsu has been providing mobile device acceptance testing equipment to NTT Docomo for some time. In 2016, the companies teamed up to conduct power consumption verification tests for IoT devices using the LTE Cat M1 and other machine type communications standards.
