DoCoMo has appointed Kaoru Kato as its new president and CEO, as part of the Japanese mobile operator’s management reshuffle.
Kato, currently EVP and a board member at the company, will replace Ryuji Yamada, who is expected to become a director and a corporate advisor to the company.
Kazuto Tsubouchi and Fumio Iwasaki have both been promoted to senior EVP positions from executive VPs. Takanori Utano, currently president and CEO of DoCoMo Technology, was appointed as the company's new corporate auditor to succeed Shunichi Tamari, who is expected to become an advisor.
DoCoMo also listed a number of other board and executive changes, all of which is pending official approval by the shareholders and the board of directors at a June 19 meeting.
