NTT DoCoMo has struck a deal with fitness club operator Renaissance to integrate the company’s mobile healthcare platform with the latter’s fitness facilities across the country, in a bid to tap the growing mobile healthcare market.
Starting from this fall, DoCoMo will start offering health management services to employees and individuals through enterprises, health-insurance cooperatives and local governments.
Users will wear the moveband, a wristband-type device by docomo Healthcare that records daily activities such as walking steps, sleep time and other vital data. The data will be stored in the cloud on docomo Healthcare's Watashi-move healthcare platform.
This will enable Renaissance’s professional fitness instructors and nutritionists to perform analysis and then offer fitness plans and health consultation personalized to each user, DoCoMo said in a statement.

DoCoMo will also introduce its Fit-Link customer-management service at Renaissance fitness facilities during the year. The service will enable members to collect vital data while working out in gyms as well as during the rest of their daily lives.
In future, DoCoMo and Renaissance also plan to offer more diverse mobile-supported healthcare solutions for individuals, companies and public sector, the company added.
