Japan's NTT DoCoMo will today commence providing mobile network consulting services to overseas mobile operators, starting with an arrangement in the Philippines.
The operator has been contracted to provide network consulting services to Smart Communications, focused on improving and optimizing radio network quality in capital city Manila.
DoCoMo has previous experience advising partner operators in foreign countries, and is now turning this into a separate business model.
The company will provide the consulting services via its Global Business Division, and is inviting interested operators to contact the division via a dedicated email address.
DoCoMo will be able to draw from its experience of operating a mobile network in one of the world's most technologically advanced mobile markets that is expected to be at the forefront of the development and commercialization of 5G.
The operator's own mobile networks support over 68 million mobile customers, more than half of the estimated population of Japan of 126.8 million. Outside of Japan the company has seven international partnerships with mobile operators as well as other companies.
