South Korean network equipment vendor DASAN Networks has won a major contract to provide high-speed internet infrastructure to Vietnamese incumbent Viettel.
The initial order coves the supply of around $18 million worth of FTTH and GPON equipment to Viettel over the next four months.
The companies also plan to negotiate over a contract to supply more FTTH equipment shortly.
Military-run operator Viettel plans to roll out FTTH-based high speed internet services throughout Vietnam starting this year.
During a tender process for the GPON equipment last year, DASAN was selected as the first supplier.
DASAN CEO Min-Woo Nam said the contract win “has helped DASAN to reach one step closer to our vision in becoming a global network equipment provider.”
DASAN is a major supplier to South Korea’s three major operators, but has lately been seeking to expand its global business.
