ZTE claims a deal with a Colombian cellco makes it the country’s largest provider of managed services.

The Chinese vendor’s contract with Comcel – owned by Mexican-headquartered América Móvil – involves management of 6,000 sites and supply of BTS and power equipment. The deal builds on a separate managed services agreement with Telefónica-Telecom, Colombia’s largest fixed line operator, signed in 2011.

Zhang Dianjun, vice president of ZTE Colombia, says the deal will help Comcel “provide customized services to its users,” while expanding his firm’s presence in South America.
