Clarification: Not the first WiMAX network in Taiwan

We reported earlier in the week that Chunghwa Telecom's rollout of a universal WiMAX network -- covering fixed, mobile and nomadic usage -- was the first to be deployed in Taiwan.

A number of of Daily readers pointed out that this wasn't the first WiMAX rollout in Taiwan -- in December Chunghwa deployed a mobile WiMAX network from Nortel in the northeastern county of Yilan.

Our report also incorrectly stated it was a nationwide rollout, when it actually was limited to Taoyuan county.

Our apologies for the confusion, and thanks to our alert readers!
