China’s total sales volume of domestic mobile phones has reached 68.94 million in the second quarter, excluding illegal or smuggled mobile phones, with its sequential growth rate of 3.3%, according to a new report.

The report from Analysys also said with the generous offer of new 3G smartphones by such large device manufactures as Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson plus the push by telecom operators, the overall sales volume kept growing driven by 3G mobile phones this quarter.

About 24.28 million 3G mobile phones have been sold this quarter, up 27.3% compared with the last quarter, creating another historic high. CDMA sales dropped by 0.6% and the growth of CDMA is totally dependent on cdma2000.

Analysys also said copycat mobile phone market is shirking in the last few months. The sale of smuggled and copycat mobile phones has dropped by 1.2% this quarter. The subsidy for the genuine products following the launch of 3G improved the cost-performance of genuine ones and narrowed down the space for copycat phones.
