Dtac has been dealt a major blow in Thailand’s telecom wars, losing an administrative court battle against CAT Telecom, which has been granted an injunction forbidding Dtac from installing further 2.1-GHz equipment on CAT Telecom’s towers.
CAT has interpreted the ruling somewhat differently claiming that Dtac must remove its 2.1-GHz equipment from 7,000 of the over 10,000 towers CAT Telecom operates.
Dtac operates both its own licences 2.1-GHz 3G network and a 850 MHz 3G network under concession from CAT Telecom which expires in 2018.
A CAT Telecom source said it would apply for a further court order to restrict the same for TrueMove.
Dtac, for its part said it will appeal this court order and points out that laws laid out by the telecom regulator require infrastructure sharing.
