The expected 20% annual growth in the number of broadband subscribers through 2010 will propel the global broadband access equipment market to reach $13.7 billion this year. According to Ovum-RHK, applications such as IPTV as well as triple-play deployments and higher bit-rate ISP services will drive broadband subscriber growth across all major markets. In terms of equipment, the $13.7-billion market will be split almost evenly between network equipment at 53% and customer premises equipment at 47%. While the Asia-Pacific region is currently the second largest broadband access equipment market, next to western Europe, Ovum-RHK sees the China-India region snatching this position by 2010.
