IoT accelerator Brinc will launch Hong Kong's first consumer IoT summit in January during the StartmeupHK Festival 2016.
The company has partnered with InvestHK and Cyberport to bring the summit to the city. The two-day conference will include keynotes, workshops, networking events, a startup contest and hackathon.
Guest speakers will include Li & Fung CEO Spencer Fung, Broostone CEO Tom Via, Misfit founder Sonny Vu and Microsoft director of architecture Josh Holmes.
Brinc will also offer Hong Kong startups a chance to showcase their ideas as part of the LAUNCH global startup competiton, which is open to companies developing internet-connected hardware and software devices and have less than 25 employees.
Winning startups will receive investment and support worth between $100,000 and $500,000.
“Global IoT is a rapidly growing market. It went from existing as a new technology domain to a sector that is set to become a $1.7 trillion business by 2020,” Brinc founder and CEO Manav Gupta said.
“To support and accelerate the development of the global IoT ecosystem, Brinc aims to create and foster an entrepreneurial environment for IoT startups by providing them an end-to-end platform that takes their ideas from concept, to product development to sustainable commercialization.”
The summit will take place on January 27 and 28 at PMQ in Central.
