Nokia will expand its 3G radio access solution to enable the sharing of a radio access network (RAN) between as many as four operators.

Roamware says it has completed the proof-of-concept trial for a new hub-based mobile roaming structure. Once tested and installed, the hubs will provide a single point of contact for operators seeking roaming agreements, eliminating the time-consuming individual and bi-lateral agreement approach in use today.

Fourteen mobile operators - including Cingular, China Mobile and Telecom Italia - are participating in a GSM Association initiative to enable contactless payments via mobile phones. The system will be trialed by Korean carrier KTF later this year.

's large enterprises seeking productivity gains are leading the adoption of business mobility services in the region, according to IDC. Security remains a challenge, but a bigger hurdle for those pushing mobility solutions is to conclusively establish operational benefits for the end-user organizations.
