Philippine operator Bayantel announced plans to deploy DSL lines nationwide and disclosed that it has selected a foreign firm for the project.

The carrier said it is looking at rolling out 100,000 DSL lines in the country.

Financial details of the DSL contract however remain under wraps.

A Bayantel official said the deal is 'significant' considering the low broadband Internet penetration rate in the country.
