Arianespace places JCSAT-10, Syracuse 3B into orbit

(Satellite Today via NewsEdge) Arianespace placed a commercial communications satellite and a French military communications satellite into orbit August 11 using an Ariane 5 rocket, which lifted off from Kourou, French Guiana.

The JCSAT-10 satellite was built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems and is owned by JSAT Corp. The spacecraft will be located at 128 degrees East and provide DTH and communications services to Japan, the Asia-Pacific region and Hawaii via 30 Ku-ban and 12 C-band transponders.

Syracuse 3B, built by Alcatel Alenia Space, is the second satellite in France's Syracuse 3 system, which provides secure communications to the French military.
